Product Moderation
All new and edited products go through Joom moderation process before being shown to Joom customers. Joom moderation validates product’s name, images, description, variations and other information. Products that don't correspond with Joom rules get rejected.

Moderation Process
Joom moderation goes through three stages:
Auto-moderation |
Doesn't let the products with bad quality photos and duplicates appear on the platform. |
Manual moderation |
Is conducted by the Joom moderation team. |
Categorization |
Assigns a category to the product. Product categorization is conducted automatically or manually by Joom. Merchants can't assign category to the product. |
Moderation Requirements
- The merchant must be activated;
- The store and the product must be enabled;
- The product must have at least one enabled variant and its inventory must be above 0;
- Images should be successfully processed on the server side (this process starts right after any image link update);
- Product variants must meet the product variant requirements.

Moderation Period
Generally, the product moderation process takes about 96 hours, but if there are too many products, the duration period could be extended.
You can check which products are going through the moderation process on the Products page in your Joom account – just filter the products by choosing the Being processed by Joom status.
Edited Product Moderation
Moderation process begins after you update the following product attributes:

⚠️ PLEASE NOTE: If your product was rejected because of these reasons, moderation process cannot be launched again:
- Product is prohibited on Joom;
- Product violates trademark or copyrights;
- Product quality is too bad (we’ve received negative feedback from customers);
- Duplicate.
Moderation Rejection Reasons
You can find out the reasons or the issues why the moderation rejects your products.
Select the products which are rejected by Joom and you will see a banner on the top of your product page with the information about it.
And if there are any issues with your products (product name, description, image, variant, etc.), our moderators will highlight them in yellow color and you will be able to learn more about the issues by pointing at the “exclamation mark” sign (⚠️).
Sometimes there might be more than one issue that causes a product being rejected by the moderation, so you can find all the issues by clicking on the arrow in the yellow banner to expand it. Please make sure that you have checked and resolved all the issues listed in the banner and yellow marks, to help you get the product approved once and for all!
⚠️ Please note: We are now optimizing our product moderation design, and you might find other moderation design on some older products.
While a product is going through the moderation process after being edited, the old version of the product will continue to be sold at Joom and will not be removed. However, if the last edited version of the new product maintains a “Rejected by Joom” status for more than a month, the old version of the product will also be removed.

FAQ
Why is a product rejected by moderation?
If your product doesn't correspond to the Joom requirements, it will get rejected by moderation. Closely examine the product's diagnostics to learn the exact rejection reason. Refer to the article My Product Is Rejected, Why to see the detailed list of rejection reasons, and resolve the problem, if possible.
Why is a product on moderation again?
When you upload or edit a product, it proceeds with immediate auto-moderation. After some time, if the product is popular and interesting for customers, it undergoes manual moderation too.
Why does moderation take so long? Can I speed it up?
Auto-moderation is immediate, manual moderation takes about 96 hours. There is no other way to speed up the moderation rather than provide complete and precise information about your products.
Why is a product rejected as a copyright?
If your product violates the IP rights, it will be rejected by moderation. Please ensure to authorize the brands you're selling.
What dangerous kind should I select?
If your product's rejected due to incorrect dangerous kind, you'll see the corrected version right in the product's diagnostics. In this case, you should edit the product's current dangerous kind and choose the one stated in the diagnostics.
In this example, the product's dangerous kind should be changed to Magnetized items.
What certificates does a product need?
If there are specific certificate requirements for your product, you'll see such information in the product's diagnostics. Closely examine the diagnostics, it indicates the type of certificate required for your product, and the restrictions your product falls into. Add the certificate for your product to remove diagnostics.
In this example, the product is disabled in the EU because it misses the CE certificate.
Why is a product rejected for non-compliance?
Your product can be rejected by moderation due to safety and compliance reasons. In such a case, you will see a diagnostic saying: Your product listing has been taken down as non-compliant with applicable EU safety requirements. The alert with the information on the reasons for takedown can be found here.
That means that the product has been listed on the Safety Gate Portal of dangerous products. The Safety Gate Portal is the one website in the EU where all regulatory bodies post unsafe and non-compliant products. It is used as a rapid alert system to inform consumers, businesses, and other regulatory bodies about unsafe and non-compliant products. It is essentially a regulatory body-controlled list of products that should not be made available for sale anywhere in the EU.
Our Joom moderation team scans and reviews this website every week, and if any products are notified there that also happen to be sold on Joom Marketplace, they will be taken down and blocked.
Why is a product prohibited?
Some products are prohibited on Joom. If you upload such a product, it will be removed from sale during the moderation process. You will see the red diagnostics “Product is prohibited on Joom”.
What size chart should I provide?
If your product misses a size chart, or its size chart contains mistakes, it will receive a diagnostics. Please refer to the article Size Charts and add or edit your size chart according to the correct examples.
Why is a product attribute not parsable?
When adding product attributes, please ensure to use the values acceptable by Joom. To learn them, please:
- Go to the Category Requirements page in the Merchant Panel;

Choose the category you need and click Download Attribute Values to download the file with the list of attribute values.
Joom only accepts the values provided in the file. All other custom attribute values will not be parsed.
Pay attention to spelling and compare your values with the file. If the value appears to be correct but still is not parsed by the system, please contact Merchant support.
Why is a color not parsable?
When adding a color for a product variant, please ensure to use the values acceptable by Joom. Please refer to the list of currently accepted colors. Joom only accepts the values provided in the file. All other custom color values will not be parsed.
Pay attention to spelling and compare your values with the file. If the value appears to be correct but still is not parsed by the system, please contact Merchant support.
