Product Stock Requirements
"Automatic Inventory Update" is a function allowing the system to change product inventory based on the amount of orders available to avoid overselling.
This feature is turned on by default, you can use it directly, all you have to do is to provide the original stock information, and the system will do the rest.
How Does Automatic Inventory Update Feature Work?
The system calculates the number of "available orders":
- If the number of available orders = zero, the system automatically withdraws it from sales;
- If the number of available orders > zero, the platform re-uploads the product.
Number of available orders = inventory - fulfilled orders - new orders |
If a product has several variants and one of them is disabled for being out of stock, other variants won't be affected.
⚠️ PLEASE NOTE:
- The number of "available orders” is not necessarily the same as the "inventory" that is displayed in your account, because there's a two-hour order protection period. During this timeframe, orders are only visible to the system, so you won’t be able to see them until this period expires;
- The inventory in the Merchant Panel will only decrease as you fulfill the orders. If you or a customer cancels an order, the system will include it in the inventory;
- The inventory in the Merchant Panel will keep decreasing while the number of actually fulfilled orders grows. When you update your inventory, the system will take the "updated inventory" as the "actual inventory."
For Example:
Setting a product's inventory |
You set a product’s inventory to 10 and get 10 new orders. As the number of available orders becomes zero, the system disables the product.
During the two-hour order protection period |
2 customers canceled their orders, so only 8 "new orders" exist.
This means that "the number of available orders" is 2 (10 - 8 = 2). As 2 is greater than 0, the system enables the product.
After the two-hour order protection period |
You received 8 orders. For example, you fulfill 7 orders and cancel 1.
As the number of fulfilled orders is 7, the inventory in the Merchant Panel changes to 3 (10 – 7 = 3). At this time, the number of "available orders" is also 3.
Afterwards |
If you update the inventory to 15 afterwards, the actual stock in the system will also become 15.
⚠️ PLEASE NOTE: In this case, you must update the product stock in time.
