Certificates Required for Selling Your Products
Certificates are one of the category-specific requirements. For more information please refer to the article Category-Specific Requirements. |
Products belong to some categories require MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) to guarantee the safety of the delivery process.
Some countries require specific certificates in order to be able to sell your products on their territory. For now Joom requires the following quality certificates:
- EC Certificate for the products sold in the EU;
- FDA Certificate for the products sold in the USA.
In which cases do you need to provide the certificate?
MSDS Certificate
You can upload MSDS for the categories in this list. Currently it is not mandatory to provide MSDS for any products, but we can request such a certificate upon the request of the logistics providers; you also can provide such certificates in order to confirm the dangerous kind of your product.
EC and FDA Certificates

Please note:
- Oximeters require only EC Certificate and cannot be sold in the USA, despite having the FDA Certificate.
- Contact lens require only EC Certificate and cannot be sold in the USA, despite having the FDA Certificate.
FDA / EC certificate types for masks products (click here to see the details)
For disposable masks products (category ID: 1499770159980110007-56-2-26193-2658702324), there are 3 types of FDA / EC certificates. A product must have the correct type of EC certificate in order to be able to sell in the EU, it must have the correct type of FDA certificate in order to be able to sell in the U.S..
Type 1: Medical masks (disposable)
For medical masks, merchants can use the words "Safety", "Protective", "Medical", "Surgical" in the product information.
The FDA / EC certificates of medical masks should contain the words "Medical" or "Surgical", or should have the information "meet the EN 14683 standar" and "meet the 93 / 42 / EEC directive". If a medical masks product does not have FDA certificate, does not have EC certificate either, it will be blocked.
Type 2: Protective masks (reusable and disposable)
For protective masks, merchants can use the words "Safety", "Protective", "KN95", "FFFP2" in the product information.
The FDA / EC certificates of protective masks should contain information "meet the EN 149 requirements" and "meet the 2016 / 425 directive". If a protective masks product don't have FDA certificate, don't have EC certificate either, it will be blocked.
Type 3: Disposable masks
For disposable masks, merchants can use the words "Safety", "Protective" in the product information.
The FDA / EC certificates of disposable masks don't have to contain the information "meet the EN 14683 standar" , "meet the 93 / 42 / EEC directive", "meet the EN 149 requirements", "meet the 2016 / 425 directive".
Other important thing you should know
For a product belongs to the Safety Masks category (ID: 1473502940578516741-231-2-118-2049229911), if the merchant indicates that, it has the above mentioned characteristics (Safety, Protective, Surgical, Medical, N 95 etc.), the merchant needs to provide the corresponding certificate, otherwise the product will be disabled.
⚠️ PLEASE NOTE:
Products without the EC Certificate cannot be sold in the European Union. Products without the FDA Certificate cannot be sold in the USA.
If you want to sell products of the same product type in both EU and USA, please provide separate EC and FDA Certificates for the same product.
The certificates are issued in the name of the manufacturer, therefore its name may not coincide with the name of the merchant's company.
