Joom is a cross-border e-commerce company and fully complies with regulations of various territories. Therefore, its merchants are prohibited from selling on the platform contrabands and products containing prohibited items, including medication and medical devices.
If the platform discovers occurrences of such prohibited conduct, it will disable the offending product and issue the additional penalty.
Prohibited for Sale on Joom:
- Medical products, including any article for diagnosing, curing, alleviating, treating, or preventing diseases, any article (other than food) for affecting the structure or function of the body of humans or animals, such as any tablet, pill, injections, Chinese herbal medicines, health products, diet pills, etc., regardless whether prescribed or sold over the counter.
- Products containing any therapeutic or pharmaceutical ingredient intended for or having curative effects, including therapeutic essential oils.
- Medical equipment, including any related equipment and product, such as bandages, test strips, syringes, magnetic therapy bracelets, etc.
- Biological products, including viruses, therapeutic serum, toxins, antitoxins, vaccines, blood, blood components or derivatives, allergenic products, proteins or similar products, strontium or barium salts used to prevent, treat, or cure human diseases or conditions, as well as derivatives (or any other trivalent organic arsenic compounds), etc.
Cosmetics and Medicine
In comparison to medicine, cosmetics are products that are used for rubbing, pouring, spraying, introducing into or otherwise acting on the human body, in order to clean, beautify, enhance the attractiveness, or change the appearance thereof.
Because inappropriate product names or product descriptions are removed from Joom’s system, merchants must read the platform instructions for such products, including in relation to their product title and description. Products that are used to do the following are considered medicine and are therefore prohibited:
Ease muscle aches;
Treat seborrheic dermatitis;
Clean teeth (such as toothpaste containing fluoride);
Moisturize and serve as makeup marketed with claims to provide sun protection (sunscreens);
Remove or treat acne;
Produce an effect on thighs;
Produce slimming effects;
Treat cellulite (e.g. creams).
Merchants are prohibited from performing the following in order to evade moderation:
Enter false or misleading information in the product title or description;
Exclude necessary information in the product title or description.

The above examples are partially prohibited medicine. Certain countries and regions have separate requirements for such products. The platform will update its list of prohibited products in real time based on different national laws and policies.
